LUMS has entered into an agreement with MCB Bank Limited through which MCB Bank provides commercial loans to MBA/ EMBA students.

Several Merit and Need-Based Scholarships are available for students who meet specific criteria. A foreign national who is not of Pakistani origin and does not have a Pakistani passport/NICOP/CNIC is eligible to apply to LUMS under its International Student Programme.

The maturity proceeds or surrender value of foreign currency policies held by foreign nationals may be paid in rupees or in the currency of the policy. Payment in foreign currency will be made with the prior approval of the State Bank. Foreign currency policies may be issued on the lives of foreign nationals where premia is paid by them in foreign exchange or out of remittable Rupee funds of the policy holders as laid down in paragraph 17 ibid. Foreign currency policies can also be issued on the lives of Pakistan nationals domiciled abroad provided premium is paid in foreign exchange only. At MBA level, LUMS Interest-Free loan covers partial to full tuition fee expense.

Under this scholarship scheme, the University in collaboration with ADB-JSP provides ADB’s developing members in Asia and the Pacific to pursue postgraduate studies in management at the Suleman Dawood School of Business. One-time activity of opening non-checking collection / repayment account. One time non-refundable processing fee of PKR 5,000/- or as set by the Bank only at the time of processing of the initial application. Mark-up accrual shall begin from the day of first disbursement as per the above rates and shall continue on the outstanding principal till the entire repayment of the loan. Total tenor of repayment of the loan to not exceed 7 years, including the grace period.

With the use of this portal, any new business can easily be registered online, saving the need of visits to different departments for paper based documentation. A helpline has been established to handle public queries regarding registration processes and facility is also made available at Facilitation Centres (e-Khidmat Markaz). The Government also aims to enable online payments for registration with aforementioned departments, which may encourage more entrepreneurs and investors to start a business.

This scholarship will support female candidates to pursue higher education on merit and will increase the number of women joining the MBA/EMBA Program of the Business School. The issue of personal accident policies is governed by the same conditions as those applicable to life policies. Life and Endowment policies fall within the definition of securities and cannot be taken or sent out of Pakistan without the prior approval of the State Bank. Application for export of life policies should be made to the State Bank giving full description of the policy and reasons for its export.
